Welcome Week

We are continuing to have fun during the week.  Between Salsa classes, FareStart, yoga, SEAW happy hours, and other events, our nights are full!  This week we had a documentary night at Luis and Carina’s with steak dinner and the REALLY good documentary “Blackfish” about the orca whale attacks and deaths on Sea World Whale Trainers.  Tuesday’s salsa taught us a lot and concluded with a pit stop at Camion for fish tacos.  Wednesday was the monthly happy hour for SEAW on the eastside.  This time we met up at the famous and delicious Monsoon East for Asian bites and drinks.

Thursday was my FIRST time dining at FareStart.  My Christmas present to the Rooms was to have dinner there, the four of us, the night of their choice.  This week’s dinner was brought by Serafina, well-known Eastlake restaurant, incorporating Mediterranean flavors.  It was a great dinner, great time spent with the girls and showing them FareStart, which I love.  We even got the grand tour by my friend and FareStart Wine Expert, Timothy, and served by my friends, Alex and Alex.  I bought the dinner but the girls and split the bottle of fantastic Syrah.  So much fun and good food.

In other news, I’ve been greatly enjoying giving Broncos fans a heard time via Facebook.  I mean Peyton and Welker are great but it should really be the Colt and Patriots 2.0 team…they’ve both been there one year, how can you call them the Broncos yet.  I also forgot to tell you that I made my own pita bread this weekend for the first time (yeast dough and all) and it actually came out great!  And puffed up like it is supposed to in the oven!  That would be one reason I would see getting a Kitchen Aid StandMixer…the kneading attachment is amazing!  It accompanied the dinner I made for Polly and Bryan on Saturday of a carrot puree, Moroccan chicken, and harissa salad that I modeled off of this recipe: http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Moroccan-Chicken-With-Carrot-Puree
