Settling In

The past week hasn’t been entirely relaxing but it hasn’t been half bad either.  We’ve been slowly chipping away at getting the last things moved into the house and unpacking.  We’ve made great progress, albeit slowly.  And our house has already become a kind of sanctuary, where one can be free from sweat and sleep an amazing sleep in a new bed.

Accomplishments:

  • Made three Jeep-ful loads from the Eastlake house to finish moving out all of our things
  • Three XL garbage bags full of clothes were de-hung, moved, and rehung/folded
  • Four + hours spent unpacking and sorting kitchen stuff
  • Two grocery shopping trips which included getting a lot of house cleaning goods
  • I made my first meal at the house, an amazing pad thai with red curry green beans and mushrooms on Tuesday night (definitely a keeper for my recipe book, super easy, few ingredients and we watched a Master Chef)
Seriously amazing and really only, lime juice, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, brown sugar, and sriracha!

  • Got mani/pedi’s with Marika
  • Celebrated our anniversary
  • Set up both tvs and speakers
  • Made the guest bed (important since we are having guests this weekend)
  • Got the internet and cable box working (very basic cable)
  • Set up the dining table
  • Watered the plants for the first time in the backyard
  • Got our first workouts in our workout room
  • Went for my first run around the Arboretum and back
  • Walked for our first time to Lake Washington on Friday night for dinner
  • Finished our first tub of ice cream
  • Received our first card in the mail (from Grandma and Grandpa and both Bryan and I loved that)
  • Receive packages for home goods daily (Christmas in July August)
  • Have spent a good deal of money on stuff but not blinking an eye
  • Tubed the Yakima River again, reached 98 degrees so it was perfect weather, and we dropped in 5 miles more up river so we had an extra 1 hour to chill
  • Attended the Amazon corporate party at Centurylink which was pure elaborateness and expansive

Still on the To-Do List:

  • Sand and paint Bryan’s tables
  • Clean the surface of my dining table
  • Unpack all decorations
  • Find locations for all decorations
  • Take a load to Goodwill
  • Pick up my bike from the repair shop
  • Find a new bed frame for the master
  • Figure out the patio table and chairs solution
  • Figure out how to get rid of our racoon that visits our front stoop nightly and scares the bejusus out of us

Plus, you know, a multitude of minor to-dos.  I’ll take pictures of rooms soon.
