Lunch Date

So in the past two weeks I have really seen Bryan for one day and about 10 minutes on average when he gets home at night and I crack my eyes open (at 12:30am).  I have not really liked this whole 2nd shift thing but it is over after this week and it has offered me extra study time.  Finally today Bryan and I were able to meet up for lunch and actually do lunch right, via Seattle Restaurant Week.  We chose Serafina, a very nice and sexy Eastlake restaurant that had a killer lunch menu for SRW.  They had also been the Guest Chefs when I treated my roommates to FareStart and the meal was exceptional.  For our meals we had:

Hers:

Braised baby octopus with chickpeas, potato, romesco and parsley –PULPO!!!!!
Pan-roasted Alaskan halibut with asparagus, rhubarb sugo and salsa verde
Vanilla bean panna cotta with Meyer lemon curd, pine nut brittle and blood orange serafina1 serafina3 serafina5

His:

Prosciutto di Parma with figs, shaved radish, baby arugula and aged balsamic
Roasted Lan-Roc pork chop with fig agrodolce, locally foraged greens and charred spring onions
Brown sugar cornmeal cake with hibiscus-poached rhubarb and tarragon crème anglaiseserafina2 serafina4 serafina6

This meal was fantastic.  It was so nice to have a leisurely midweek lunch with him at a nice restaurant for a reasonable price.  Everything we ate was fantastic and nothing was left behind.  I loved the octopus, probably the best I’ve had since Spain and it paired so well with the sauce and chickpeas.  The halibut was perfectly roasted and the rhubarb sauce underneath it really made it pop with brightness and tartness.  And I guess I am really starting to like panna cotta.  This one was so similar to the one I had last week with the citrus and crunch theme.  Bryan’s meal was equally good.

I love to eat good food!
