Waiting Game

The week leading up to the “holiday weekend” and parents arrival did not go quick at all for me.  Monday I was sore from the hike, Tuesday I was bored on the volleyball sidelines because we had so many subs (newbie coworkers trying to hard to fit in), and Wednesday I nearly died trying to keep up with Andrew on our Ragnar group run around Lake Union.  Seven miles nearly did several of us in but we all survived and met back at the Dodds for another hosted dinner by Angela.  Thursday was the usual FareStart but not usual in the sense that 1. it was slower  2. Amazon was filming the restaurant for a PR video  3.  graduation was outstanding and I was hostess for the night and had to be “the Vanna” on camera.  Nothing exciting about Friday other than I ate my lunch on the rooftop of the Russells Investment Building in the sunshine and after work Bryan and I scooted to Madison Park for dinner at Cactus.  Late Friday night Ky arrived and stayed up just long enough for me to say “hi” to them before they were asleep with their early departure Saturday morning.  Thus, I had Saturday and most of Sunday to myself…

Saturday kept me very busy though.  Both mornings the sun had a late showing so cooler temps on Saturday morning got me out for a run.  I started running not really sure how much I was going to do but I turned back around past the Mt. Baker rowing center I realized that it was going to be a long one.  I got back to the house just before 1 pm after an 11 mile run that felt really good.  Saturday afternoon I went to my supervisor’s 40th surprise birthday party which was funny in more ways than one.  After a beer, dinner, and conversing with coworkers I got back home with about 30 minutes to get ready for party #2, Tina’s bachelorette party.  Dressed up I set off to meet the crew in Capitol Hill.  We got a cocktail first in Tavern Law before heading to Havana Social Club for our table reservation and a night filled with dancing.  And the dancing went on and on until finally the last call was made at 2 am.  I got to bed around 3 am and woke around 8 am for no apparent reason.

Bride to be.
Good run!

Sunday was a lazyish day, just doing chores around the house and yard, saw a few open houses on a whim that I could walk to, made some banana bread and then the boys were back home around 6 pm with bags full of cherries, fatigue and good memories climbing up Baker.  That, and they were tired, sweaty and hungry.  They had to make a quick errand stop and picked up Annapurna mango mazzas and naan on the way home which they ate after showers and then quickly fell asleep.

Now today I am at work where there are a surprising amount of people actually here.  I have spent nearly three hours with I.T. trying to troubleshoot while I can’t get into our modeling software and have found this a virtually useless day so far.  That and I am looking forward to Mom and Dad getting here tonight and have a nice long weekend this coming weekend with them.  Ready for that to get here!
