Neighbors

Well, it seems like ever since the topic of Neighbors was brought up at service last Sunday, we’ve been on quite a roll with getting caught up and visiting several of our closest friends.  Which is great because this is so important to both of us; whether it is opening up our home, others opening up theirs, or just getting caught up over a glass of wine.

We had a great relaxed visit with Billy and Valerie on Sunday night after their concert and then had a fantastic dinner over at their house on Tuesday night.  They made us a fantastic dinner of that paprikash Valerie and I learned in a cooking class a year ago and apple crisp for dessert and we spent several hours joking and laughing around the table.

We enjoyed Marsya’s company over dinner on Monday night and we caught up with Polly over green chile enchiladas on Wednesday night at our house.

We had our weekly friends dinner at FareStart on Thursday night and even got a few of Bryan’s coworkers to join us in the FareStart restaurant this week.  Super low numbers disappointingly for what was one of the tastiest and definitely prettiest Guest Chef Nights.

We had a much overdo dinner at Marika’s house where Marika and Randy treated us to one of her great Italian dinners, including several bottles of Italian wine and laughs.

Saturday we took Marsya to an old standby; Eastlake Bar and Grill to share a meal on a rainy night before Marsya and I attended a fantastic concert.  The One Beat organization, funded through the US Department of State and featuring 25 musical collaborators from 17 countries, was actually very mindblowing and the venue of St. Marks Cathedral always provides a great ambiance to any concert within its high-vaulted ceilings.

Sunday we spent the afternoon wine tasting with another two of our favorite people; Andrew and Angela.  After expressing interest in becoming more involved with their wine touring we joined them at Januik and Novelty Hill for wine tastings and signed up to be apart of the winery’s winemakers club and shared the purchase of a case of wine with them!!  We continued the wine touring at Mark Ryan’s tasting room and lastly at Darby’s cellars before driving back to Seattle, meeting Marsya for Vietnamese at the Red Papaya, getting Rush tickets for the one-man show at the Seattle Repertory Theater of Buyer and Cellar, and concluding the busy weekend with frozen yogurt from Yeti Yogurt.  Although after the wine I would have been perfectly capable of just going to sleep!
