Full Steam Ahead

Bryan and I did not waste time jumping back in to work, play, and seeing friends once we were back in Seattle.  Our first day included Bryan’s rowing class and a chaotic FareStart night with Purple Cafe and Wine Bar with their menu of:

First Course
Salt Roasted Baby Beets, Smoked Labneh, Foraged Greens, Candied Pecans, Grapefruit
Paired with Grapefruit-Tarragon Shrub

Entree
Crispy Skin Salmon, English Pea Emulsion, Thumbelina Carrots, Green Chickpeas, Pea Vines, Lemon Agrumato
Paired with Cucumber-Beet Shrub

Delicious!

Dessert
Chevre Cheesecake, Field Rhubarb Confiture, Pecan-Shortbread Crumble
Paired with Rhubarb-Cardamom Shrub

Friday night we enjoyed a date night just the two of us after my hair cut.  We went to Fontana Siciliana, an Italian restaurant in Belltown, to eat on their patio by the fountain.  Good Italian wine, veal cannelloni with tricolore sauce and a shared salad and cream of mushroom soup made for a great meal and we’ve had quite a time visualizing our wedding day.

Saturday we went out sailing out of Shilshole.  After Bryan’s early morning Learn to Row class we packed up some sandwiches and broccoli salad to take with us to the marina.  We met Philipp and Mark there to board our Meetup group’s 47′ beautiful sailboat at Dock G at 11am.  We left soon after that and had very light winds the whole day but gorgeous sunny skies.  We sailed to the north end of Bainbridge Island to Hidden Cove (new to me but absolutely picturesque) to dock and have lunch.  Everyone brought food so there was a full spread to indulge.  We anchored, ate, kayaked and chatted for just over an hour before we headed back for our return trip to Seattle, docking around 4:30pm.

Saturday night I headed to the St. Mark’s Cathedral on the hill for an acoustic concert with the Fremont Abbey.  I love the concerts in the Cathedral…so cool!

Sunday morning Bryan and I did our normal church and lunch after thing.  Nice service and good lunch at a new to us place in Capitol Hill called Scratch Deli.  I had a delicious kale salad and cream of asparagus soup.  We went home, did some errands, went on a run together, cleaned up, made chicken fajitas to take over to our small group potluck, went to our small group Mexican potluck, played bocce ball, and then met up with our friends at Conor Byrnes in Ballard for open mic night.  Busy, busy!

And we are back to rain…
