Long Weekend Loveliness

This past weekend, although lame in many senses, was exactly what Bryan and I were looking for.  To relax, to finally spend a weekend with one another, and to enjoy the peace and quiet with everyone else gone.

We had some amazing food and beers on Eastlake Bar and Grill’s patio to kickstart the weekend right.

My absolutely delicious Pacific grilled salmon...at a bar...for $15. Great potatoes, asparagus, cucumber relish salad and lemony sauce!

We went on a 25 mile bike ride to Seward Park in Seattle for a picnic.  We picked up picnic goods at Home Remedy for our awesome picnic backpack that was gifted to us at Christmas and settled in on the banks of Lake Washington for a long while.

We made breakfast for dinner which was fantastic and watched Cabaret which was more than fantastic!

Loved, loved, loved this movie!

I made a lazy Sunday brunch of a sausage and potato hash and homemade banana bread.  We then watched Wolf of Wall Street to pass away the rainy afternoon.

We managed out of the house around 5pm to ride the scooter in the rain to try Some Random Bar in Belltown which was super delicious.  We didn’t quite make it home when my scooter decided the clutch should give out under the weight of Bryan and I.  Thankfully we were only about 1/2 mile from home.

Ah-mazing chicken wings with a spicy glaze and nice crunch. Good portion too.

We cleaned all morning on Monday and went for a short bike ride to get groceries.  Bryan smoked 6 lbs of brisket and a bunch of chicken while I made sides of Mexican corn (like Mama makes), a southwest mac n cheese, guacomole, coleslaw, and roasted potatoes and sweet potato mix for what turned out to be 14 people (including Bryan’s boss and wife who I finally got to meet) over at Bryan’s house.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day and with me cranking out all those sides plus everyone bringing over beer, melons, and dessert we had the perfect amount of food.  It was a great Memorial Day done right with BBQ!
