One more week before the big one. Not tired yet.
Monday: Finally had my pumpkin pancakes at IHOP. The season is almost over for them!! I know it is just IHOP but those pancakes are delicious. Especially when paired with their Simple and Fit menu. Since I was kid I have always loved breakfast for dinner. Who doesn’t?
Tuesday: Hot yoga and then another Yelp! shopping event downtown at a boutique called Sell Your Sole, with the roommates. Nibbles, bubbly, and shopping to be had. I got two pairs of pants and a top for a very good price. Great find and great fun with the Rooms.
Wednesday: Another night off? What? It can’t be. Made homemade tomato basil soup (yeah it was good) while simultaneously mixing, cutting, baking and decorating my cookie for the Roommate Olympics. I went with Christmas cutouts (in shapes of stars and trees…the cutter from Grandma) but doing a chocolate cutout cookie. By the time I got to the frosting I was way over baking so I decided to dip them in melted chocolate (with peppermint schnapps) instead and then coat with sprinkles. Way faster, probably not better.
Thursday: Volunteered at FareStart for Guest Chef Night with The Inn at Langley (from Whidbey Island). The menu (was oh so good!):
Tuscan Kale Soup, Sage Butter, Pumpkin Seed
Heritage Bread, Whidbey Grown Turkey Breast, Roasted Carrots, Red Onion Petals, Collard Greens and Mole
Quick Frozen Whipped Chocolate, Tonka Bean Powder, English Toffee “Pop Rocks”
After a great dinner with my favorite people I headed over to the Prockow’s for the end of their Christmas party, where my cookie was being judged against my roommates. The competitors made a chocolate cookie filled with pumpkin, a chai cookie with eggnog frosting, and a vegan chocolate chip shaped as gingerbread men. Apparently my friends don’t like chocolate because they voted mine third and Polly’s last (the other chocolate cookie) and Mikayla came in first again with her chai cookie. Lame.
Friday: Free Fry Friday is back at my favorite fry spot Pike Street Fish Fry. Free fries before getting my hair cut and highlighted. Then on to Comedy Underground for a great comedy show with Bryan, complete with a bottle of champagne (Groupon deal). Great laughs and great time! It was actually such a great show, my stomach hurt.
Saturday: A quick roomie pic and roomie gift exchange. Shopping around Queen Anne for Bryan’s niece and nephew. Cleaned and cooked. Dinner at the house with Valerie and Billy, Andrew and Angela before seeing Handel’s Messiah at Benaroya Hall, which was beautiful! For dinner I made the cider glazed pork tenderloin with brandied flambeed apples, sauteed spinach with garlic and pancetta, and roasted white-skinned sweet potatoes. Everything came out really tasty…so much so that three of the five dinner guests each individually told me “that was the best pork I’ve ever had”. Bryan included. That brining the pork is the key.
Sunday: Spent considerable amount of time at Pacific Place listening to a great holiday jazz trio with my Starbucks. The rest of the day was errands, laundry and packing but I was provided a delicious dinner from Mikayla and Nate who were entertaining in our kitchen/dining room. She mad a great pot roast, parmesan broccoli, and polenta.
The week is here! One day of work left.
