Garden Update: Early June

The plants we have so far keep growing excitingly.  I might try to plant the greens (kale, chard, collards) and beets again in a bed that gets more sunlight because those just aren’t doing anything where they are.  The pea pods are going to need climbers set up for them ASAP.  The romaines might need to be thinned a little bit because I think I put them a bit too close to one another.  And my broccoli plants from last year I think I might need to cut down.  They have grown so big but I think the parts that are growing are not going to produce any edibles, they are just flowers now.  Not quite sure about those.  Take a look at what we have got going:

Baby romaines. Three way too close together right now.

Some beautiful mesclun mix. Looks to me like red leaf lettuce.

The three of us are going to the opening day of the Queen Anne Farmers Market tomorrow night.  They are having a plant starts sale during the opening day and we plan on picking up some tomato starts, herbs, and maybe some other goodies.
