Chelsea’s Top Ten of May

  1. My First Opera.  Polly took me to my very first opera at McCaw Hall and it was really quite the experience.  I first of all love getting dressed up and going to shows, it reminds me of when I was kid going to the Wharton Center.  Plus we had literally the best seats in the house for free and the music and emotions were intense!opera
  2. Bike To Work Month.  I really like this month for the change of pace of biking to work and the camaraderie in the office for doing so.  Plus it forced me to get my new bike!!Bike-to-Work
  3. Best Damn Happy Hour.  My friends and I had a blast drinking super cheap drinks, eating cheap but tasty food, and playing floor scrabble in bean bag chairs at the Seattle Center Happy Hour.  There were just so many people there!!!

We all want a floor Scrabble rug now!

  4. Formals With Marika.  First there was the Construction for Change Gala then there was the wedding.  Both I got to dress up, wear heels, and eat and drink the night away.  I like to feel apart of the “in” crowd.

  5. Fremont Abbey Superfoods Classes.  They’re back!!  They currently are only once a month for now, instead of once a week but that might even be better.  And they are still fantastic; instructional, fun, and delicious.superfoods
  6. Garden.  It is a-blooming and super fun to watch it grow.  Both Mikayla and I are very excited to reap the benefits soon.

The peapods are booming. They will be tall...and will need some sort of climbing aid.

  7. Free Food Up the Wazoo.  Veggie Grill corporate lunch, UM alumni happy hour at Pyramid, free BBQ lunch at Fremont Brewery, SEAW happy hour at Chantanee Thai, free Great Harvest sandwich tasting and free loaf of bread, free Skillet burger and fries (x2), free Eltana bagels.

Very delicious slider with their coined bacon jam, arugula, and brie/blue cheese on a mini brioche. But oh baby those fries. So crispy and flavorful (sage!). Handing these out fast too!!

  8. New Volunteering Opportunity.  Farestart is a great organization with a mission I like and something that I am looking forward to putting my time towards about once a month or so.  I volunteered twice this week for different happenings and loved them both.farestart
  9. Music.  I’ve volunteered at the Q Cafe and the Abbey for some great music nights.  We also had the Northwest Folklife Festival this weekend for some awesome bluegrass and rockabilly with free entrance.nwfl
  10. Nitro Dark Star.  This was indeed the best beer I have ever tried.  I am not even hugely into beer but this was fantastic!

Best beer ever. Nitro Dark Star Oatmeal Stout from Fremont Brewing Company.
