Give Me My Doner

Certain times and meals remind me of other instances.  Yesterday for the first time I tried The Berliner, a doner kebab in-and-out type restaurant that has two locations in Seattle: one in Pioneer Square by work and one in South Lake Union near home.  I had a coupon for $20 to spend at Berliner (and I have another one) expiring soon so I finally got around to trying it out. I loved it!!!!!!!!  If I closed my eyes I could actually imagine that I was getting a doner kebab sandwich from one of the small shops in Spain or France.  The thing was huge, the toppings were fresh and filling, the bread was delightful and the creamy sauces were plentiful and made the sandwich come together.

This is about 5x as big as it looks in the picture. This is the Berliner (garlic yogurt sauce, pickled red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, onion, and added creamy hot sauce with the lamb and chicken meat combo. Yummy!!!!!!!!

I would never be able to eat a regular size doner in one sitting, I couldn’t in Spain either.  But I had to order the regular size because they offer them for the price of their small from 4-6 pm.  That is a steal for a $5 sandwich.  And to add to that I got one each for Bryan and I and still had money to spend on a fountain drink and brownie, their daily beet soup with dill cream sauce, and a small house salad with feta cheese and garlic yogurt dressing…all that I am saving for lunch today.  I am so happy I have one more coupon to use at this spot and can’t wait to try another one of their tasty combination sandwiches, like maybe their mango curry doner.
