Lazy But Oh So Good

I have really started out this 2013 year in a very lazy and relaxed state of mind and so far I cannot (but haven’t really tried to) kick it.  Last week ended with just work, a night in with Amy eating chicken fingers, painting nails and catching up on our lives, and Friday night Amy, Polly, Bryan and I finished off the last two bottles of champagne from NYE, made a super fabulous chicken mole, worked on the puzzle, and watched bad TV.

Wonderful outcome on our chicken mole. Deliciously spicy and creamy sauce, juicy chicken. Would make again in a heartbeat.

On Saturday Bryan, Amy and I got a great brunch at Grub at the top of Queen Anne.  After much debate between an omelet and their benedict I got the omelet.  The main reason:  to try their breakfast potatoes.  Best breakfast potatoes ever!  I even took Amy’s untouched ones home for another night.  I did yoga at Sutra before joining Bryan, Luis and Carina for the Hobbit at the downtown Cinerama with a joyful bagful of their Theo’s chocolate popcorn.  God so yummy!  The movie was alright.  I am not crazy over the Lord of the Rings movies but still can enjoy them…and the movie was 3D, which I can’t do, and it just annoyed me having to wear the glasses for no good reason other than to be able to see it clearly.  And Sunday after church we headed over to Amy’s for a spaghetti and Seahawks watching party.  Delicious success on both accounts.  Too stuffed for dinner = Menchies frozen yogurt for the three of us and another lazy night in.

Oh those smashed and fried baby potatoes. So good! Artichoke, garlic, and sundried tomato omelet plus a side of fruit not shown.

This week has brought new work on the work front, which is welcome.  Warm but rainy weather, unlike last week’s cool but sunny days.  And a few more nights with friends; Tuesday happy hour with my friend Paul and the SEAW organization at Urbane restaurant in downtown (your typical upscale bar food and a glass of vino) and a massage and then dinnernight at friend’s Ewelina’s and Stephan’s who made us creole barbecue shrimp, an apple and pecan salad, and macaroni and cheese plus homemade oatmeal and chocolate cookies.  Sometimes a girl needs some IHOP satisfaction and I dined at IHOP for dinner Thursday night and also to take advantage of a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes they are offering for the Seahawks scoring more than 21 points in last week’s game.  And today I just couldn’t get over how awesomely beautiful Seattle can be.  The Olympics look so breathtaking today!
